The numbers! I hope we find out what they mean!
Java Station! HA!
All of Sawyer’s nicknames
And now some favorite scenes. I don’t really pretend to understand everything that is going on. Numbers, smoke monsters, hieroglyphics…they keep me watching but funny and sweet? I understand these well.
I love Hurley! Funny Hurley Moments:

The Bachelor: Week 1
Written by Amy on January 4th, 2010 at 10:06 pmMaybe I’m the crazy one for blogging about this but…
Oh my. Oh my. Oh my. How do you even begin to blog about this episode?
The CRAZEE came out on the Bachelor tonight.
With a few spoilers in my pocket, I heard that this was going to be a different season. And with Jake as the upstanding, gentleman that he made himself out to be, I for some reason though this was to be a tame, almost boring season.
Oh my.
No sirree.
I was ANYTHING but bored tonight.
In fact, that had to be the most entertaining Bachelor premiere yet.
The antics that these girls came up with to get his attention were way beyond any other season. A handmade spinner…a double-sided coin…a peacock feather…dirt from Texas. It was endless. It quickly turned into a game show all about who could do the stupidest thing to get Jake’s attention to the point it was easier to remember the girls that DIDN’T do something.
I made a list as we went through the introductions at the limo. I usually pick my favorites very early on. It’s easy to spot normal in a limo full of crazy but here were my picks from the limo convos ONLY.
- Ali – the yellow dress with the peacock feather
- Tenley – the divorcee
- Kimberly – NBA dancer who we saw say goodbye to her family
- Elizabeth -the nanny
- Ashley – the teacher with the spinner
While I don’t necessarily approve of their antics I think they seemed like the most sincere, normal and genuine people there. Considering the pool of women I’m not sure how much that says but if I had 5 impression roses at that point, that’s who I would hand them to.
The crazy REALLY came out during the party though. Oh my. I have to my honest here and say that while I realize the chances of real love being found on the show is slim to none, I do watch with hopes high that something will work out. Trista and Ryan! Ed and Jillian! Jason and Molly! The party was so hard to watch and take seriously though. I ended up laughing my way through it. And really, that’s not all bad.
“I’m a puma in the bedroom”
“I’ll die if I don’t get the first impression rose”
“This is my pretend ring”
“I want to be your co-pilot”
“I would love to be the passenger in your plane”
“You can land your plane on my landing strip any time”
The funny didn’t stop.
But apparently Jake didn’t see my short list. And apparently he didn’t really spend enough time with Michelle. Or Rosaline for that matter.
After the full night, I think I added Ella the mom and maybe the flight attendant to my short list and Ali and Tenley are my favorites from my original list. I know Tenley came on strong and seemed on the verge of crazy but I think she’s ok.
Oh, Bachelor. You keep me watching.
Who are your favorites from Week 1?

My Not-Quite Minute on TV
Written by Amy on November 11th, 2009 at 11:54 pmI’m so determined to post this tonight. This is the 3rd night I’ve tried to post it. Monday was my big debut for One Tree Hill. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least the amount of scenes that made it into the episode that I was in. I think Scott counted 7. BUT that still doesn’t amount too much. I put together a video of all the clips where I could see me and the whole thing is only 49 seconds. So yeah, I didn’t even get a minute on there. But hey, for an extra, that’s not too shabby.
I was SUPER DUPER excited (read: screamed like an idiot) when I got in a great shot with Stephen Colletti, who you might remember from The Hills as well, at the bar. So I’m not going to force you to watch the show if you don’t already. I put together a video and also grabbed all the screencaps I could find.
The pics:
May I just say here that I wore my 3” heels for HOURS and then we filmed this towards the end of the second day and I have my flip flops on!!! 49 seconds. And I have flip flops on.
I was talking to a person here. I barely knew her and we weren’t actually talking. We had to pantomime the entire conversation. So all the background noise you hear in this scene is added in later.
The caption should be “DER”. What IS that face??
OK back to my cool pantomiming.
Also for the dancing…we had to dance without music. Thank goodness they just showed a little bit of swaying! This is one of the first scenes we filmed and definitely most awkward.
This picture kinda makes me want to puke but whatevs. I’m talking to my friends Kim and Jami. It was fun! Actually, no, pantomiming after 24 hours is kinda NOT fun.
Still pantomiming way in the back. We had a “conversation” that the bar was getting boring and we decided to hit up another bar. This is the scene I was actually wearing my heels and had to get foam put on the bottom because I was too loud.
See the full set of screencaps here
The video (there is no sound):
So yay! My face is in OTH forevah!

Modern Family – Watch It! Because Mom Said So
Written by Amy on November 9th, 2009 at 1:53 pm
Yes, I’m blogging about TV again. You’d think that’s all I do. ahem.
Mom and Dad have a few shows they watch including a few that I don’t but it is a RARITY that Mom insists I watch something (probably because I’m already watching it). I was shocked SHOCKED when she said I should catch Modern Family. It stars the dad from Married with Children and boy howdy was that on the “bad list” when I was a kid. And I whispered in a restaurant, “Doesn’t that have a gay couple in it?” We’re NOT homophobic but Mom has always been ultra-conservative in her TV viewing (I was never allowed to watch The Smurfs, people) and I was just SHOCKED she would still be recommending the show. “But it’s REALLY funny,” she insisted almost laughing at something she must have remembered.
I looked it up online this weekend and it’s only a 22 minute show without commercials and they’re only 7 episodes in. It was easy to get caught up this weekend. Y’all. That show is HILARIOUS. FUNNY. SMART. REAL. SARCASTIC. FUNNY. HILARIOUS. Honestly, I would put the funny factor of their “Coal Digger” episode up against most episodes of The Office. This show instead of being based in the office is based in 3 diverse homes that really ARE dealing with modern issues and then some very age-old relational issues.
Sometimes the dad reminds me of my dad. Sometimes the kids remind me of my kids. Sometimes I connect with the mom, sometimes with the new parents. Sometimes I remember acting like the teenage girl. It’s really great to be able to identify with so many characters. Or at least recognize them from someone else in your life.
Some great quotes:
Mitchell: I’m like Costco. I’m big, I’m fancy and I dare you to not like me.
Phil: Claire likes to say "You can be part of the problem, or part of the solution." But I happen to believe you can be both
Mitchell: Just the emerald city at the end of my yellow brick road
Cameron: Wow you did it
Mitchell: What?
Cameron: You made figure skating sound even gayer.
Gloria: Who’s side are you on?
Jay: She’s my daughter, you’re my wife. Let’s remember what’s important, there’s a football game on today
Jay: No, see this is exactly why we sweep things under the rug. So, people don’t get hurt.
Phil: Well, yeah, until you sweep too much under the rug. Then you have a lumpy rug… creates a tripping hazard…and open yourself up to lawsuits. Boy, you can go a really long time without blinking
Claire [on her mother]: You know how growing up we all have that voice inside our head that tells us we’re not good enough? Well, mine was outside my head driving me to school
Jay: 90 percent of being a dad is just showing up
Phil [about Desiree]: Am I attracted to her? Yes. Would I ever act on it? No, no way. Not while my wife is still alive
Here are a few great clips:
Now go get caught up and set your DVRs!!! And I promise not to go create a fan site!!

Vampire Diaries Episode 7 Review
Written by Amy on October 30th, 2009 at 1:32 pmI keep talking/chatting about Vampire Diaries after last night’s episode and I think I’m just going to have to ramble here for a bit to get it all out.
First off, if you remember at the beginning of the season, I was very hesitant about this series. Real vampires? Eh. Not my thing. But after last night’s episode, I would put this series in my Top 3 show right now. Maybe 2 if I would be really honest with myself. Here are just a few reasons I love it:
- The filming is just gorgeous. It has such a rich, dark beautiful quality to it that I just love to turn the lights out and enjoy the view itself.
- The people are beautiful. Seriously, all of them. Damon is my favorite though. But Bonnie and Matt are my other favorite to uh, appreciate.
- It’s dramatic. I can’t get through the commercials fast enough to see what happens.
- It’s got great music. The first few eps were a bit questionable but the last few eps have done well.
- There are love triangles. Yes, more than one.
- There’s a good vs. evil theme to it. And sometimes you see the good being evil and there is a glimpse of good in the evil.

The Office Wedding
Written by Amy on October 8th, 2009 at 9:15 pm*spoiler*
It is times like these when I miss Twitter the most.
That episode of The Office was pure T gold. One of the best episodes EVER.
Dwight’s 9 3/4″ line.
Kevin’s I got 6 numbers, I just need one more.
Kevin’s I’d be proud to be your boyfriend.
Or Jim’s I was waiting on my wife.
And I know that doesn’t even scratch the surface.
But the moment I figured out that they were going to do this for the wedding march, you would have thought it was the Super Bowl and my team had won. It was like my Internet world, TV world and romantic world all collided into one of the best TV moments ever.
I cried the rest of the episode.
Seriously.
And I realize that’s probably all kinds of sad but to quote Kevin, it was EPIC.

Let’s Talk About Fall TV So Far
Written by Amy on September 30th, 2009 at 9:16 am
As mentioned before one of the things I’m missing about Twitter and Facebook is interaction about TV. I started my break before most shows premiered and I have no clue how people are reacting to this season. I feel a little lost. But I’ll take a few minutes to gab about what I think.
Gossip Girl
I feel like this season has been solid GG so far. Blair’s attention-getting actions were very odd. It was also odd to see JoAnna Garcia with Nate after watching her in a full season of Privileged. Maybe it’s just lingering affects from that but I’m not 100% sold on that character. I do like Carter and hope he sticks around. I’m loving Blair and Chuck together. I do like this whole college thing. I feel like it fits them better at this point yet it still feels like GG.
Greek
Greek started really slow for me the first two episodes. I had to struggle through to even watch the second episode at all. The last two have been back up to par and let me say that Cappie is by far the star of that show. Without him, the episodes lag! Here a few quotes I grabbed from this week:
A sororiety girl. I can’t remember her name and I’m too lazy to look it up. The senator’s daughter: See they were blown off for another mixer so they stayed in for mud masks and a TV series about old people having old people sex.
Casey: They’re watching Private Practice?
Evan and Cappie looking at flyers for Evan a job.
Cappie: Oh here’s one. Sperm donor. Someone with your pedigree could earn three times what I have…would..as much as I would.
Ashley: Maybe they were hot back in the 80s.
Casey: No that is ugly in any decade.
One Tree Hill
This is a huge year for OTH. Another 14 mo jump, 2 lost major character and 4 additions and it was a recipe for disaster. But after the third episode this week, I feel really good about it. I’m really loving Clay and even Alex. They need to step it up with Quinn or she will be the biggest bore I’ve seen on there yet. Nathan and Haley have been fantastic this season, especially the last episode. As for Brooke, I much rather have Brooke with an attitude than Brooke in love. But I do still like her with Julian and I’m glad to hear that storyline will be shaken a bit. Drama!
Melrose Place
TVBytheNumbers.com has called this as a cancellation. I won’t be surprised. I skipped through a lot of last night’s episode. It’s rough. Really rough. I don’t care much about the characters, the acting especially on Ashlee Simpson-Wentz’s part is horrid and the who-murdered-Sydney story-line is already old. There are a few good parts though. I think Jonah and Riley are solid, especially Riley. She’s one of the only real characters with solid acting. And I hate to say this, but I’m actually enjoying Lauren’s hooker line. It’s not right but I think the acting is superb and I think she’s showing genuine conflict about it and unfortunately there are women who find themselves in just that plight. However, with Ella Simms as the star of this show, it’s empty, vain and annoying and it will be the downfall of this show. It’s hard to support a show where you don’t even like the main character. Heather Locklear finally signed on and I’m interested to see if she saves the show. If you’re a fan, make sure to check out Melrose Place Blog (sorry for the review, Ruthie, but I’ll still plug the site for you!)
Lie To Me
I didn’t mean to watch it this season but I needed to pass some time Monday night. It was a solid episode for the show. If you enjoyed the first season, definitely check it out.
Grey’s Anatomy
I posted about this show briefly last week but wow, Grey’s was back with full force. It will be interesting to see where they take it from here. I’m wondering how you improve on what we just saw. I’m thoroughly enjoying Alex and Izzie and Derek and Meredith married.
The Office
As always The Office manages to make me laugh with quotes like this:
“I say my greatest talent is being the best man, woman or child to have ever run this branch ever.”
“I’d have to talk to my mother and my guy at H&R Block.”
I’m excited for Jim and Pam and can’t wait for this week.
Glee
I’ve dropped Glee. Eh.
Vampire Diaries
I am totally and completely smitten with Vampire Diaries. And it is totally and completely due to Ian Somerhalder as Damon. It was a little weak out of the gate but the last episode was great and I literally have been counting down to Thursday this week. I could do without all the vampirism and biting (I know, then what’s the point, eh?) but I love the characters and the stories have been decent. If they do this right, it could be huge. Make sure to check out Vampire Diaries Online.
Dollhouse
TVBytheNumbers.com also shows this as a possible cancellation and I wouldn’t be surprised since we almost didn’t get this season. But it’s a shame. It’s a good show and I really enjoyed the premiere last week.
And in closing…have I mentioned I’m excited for the Friday Night Lights premiere in 4 weeks?? All you people have PLENTY of time to catch up on 1-3. Do eeeet!

An Extra Special Experience
Written by Amy on September 25th, 2009 at 3:28 pmWow, I don’t even know where to start on the last two days. I would start at the beginning and barrel through with each and every detail but for one, that would be a small book and two, I can’t give away spoilers for the show. So you don’t get all the juicy details now. But I’ll do what I can to talk about the process itself.
Call time was Wednesday morning at 7:30. We had to park in some grassy (MUDDY) area and then were taken in vans to a club location called TRIC they regularly film at. Earlier this year when Heather and I went that is where we watched filming. It was a little surreal being on the other side of the street!
So when you first get there you go in a big white tent. It just has tables and chairs and then a large buffet style breakfast. Great food! We filled out tax forms and Wardrobe came to pick out our outfits. We waited there until they took us to a holding area in the bottom floor of the TRIC building. It was simply a concrete floor room with plastic chairs and a small snack table. The crew’s catering was also set up in there but we weren’t allowed to go in that area. We were escorted back to the white tent during lunch, which didn’t happen until very late in the day…3:30 on Wednesday!
Most of the day is spent either waiting in the holding room or filming. Mostly waiting in that room. There were 175 extras on Wed and I think 80 or so on Thursday. Only a few times did we all film at once. Usually they were doing a shot from a specific angle and they would randomly number people off to go in smaller groups. Remaining people would do the background of the other angles.
So what did we actually do during filming? Basically we were props. Just bodies to fill in a space. Our main job was to either talk or pretend like we were talking with one another. The crazy part was when we had to pantomime our conversations. Not even a whisper. The MOST awkward part was having to dance and clap without music. They would start it so we could get the beat and then we all had to hope we stayed together. If I don’t come out looking like a complete idiot, my job as an extra is complete.
So will I be on TV? I don’t know. Many people I talked to said they had done it and they were just off-screen in the shot or their scene got cut. However, I think over the two days we did about15- 20 scenes and I was placed (or placed myself) in a few decent spots. In one scene in particular, I was chosen (randomly as far as I can tell) to walk directly behind Julian across the camera by myself. As long as that scene doesn’t get cut and they are not too close in on his face, I *should* make at least 1/2 a second on TV. LOL
Would I do this again? Well, as of Wednesday night, I was on the verge of not even going back Thursday night. We were on set from 7:30am and were not released until 9pm. It is a LONG process. And while the hardest thing we did was clap, it is just exhausting waiting, waiting, waiting. And standing for an hour at a time, multiple times a day is not really that fun. Not to mention trudging through a few inches of mud to end your day didn’t help. However, on Thursday I met some friends and pantomiming with people you have had an actual conversation with outside of filming is so much easier and the scenes were better and the weather was better and I don’t know, somewhere on Thursday I think I caught the bug. I would definitely go back.
Just talk about the stars already! OK, well, not to burst anyone’s bubble, but I didn’t talk to any of them. Or get my picture with them. They specifically said you couldn’t and with so many people on set, it was impossible for them to interact much. BUT I did see Brooke ( who was directing ), Nathan, Clay, Quinn, Miranda, Haley, Dan, Rachel, Julian, Chase and Mike Grubbs from Wakey!Wakey! and I have to mention Mark was there!
Some other random observations:
- The entire process is the definition of organized chaos. People FLY around that room making things happen and weaving in and out of people. Every person is doing a different job yet somehow they all work together to make it happen.
- I was amazed at the number of people that had never even watched the show. So many of them were just doing it because they needed money, were a struggling/beginning actor or simply because they were bored.
- All the actors look 20 lbs, not 10lbs, skinnier in person and not as tall. Except for Dan, Rachel and Julian. They really are tall. I mean, seriously the girl that plays Miranda (trying not to mention actor names, sorry) is like 2″ skinny. Paper thin. And Rachel is even more hot in person than on screen. Wow, she has some serious legs.
- TRIC is not laid out anyway like you think. Or at least I thought. Or maybe I hadn’t really thought about how it was laid out. I was just surprised when we went up there.
- They had it FREEZING on set at the beginning of the day because they can’t run the air while they are filming for sound purposes.
- You can’t make ANY sound while there is dialogue. They had to put foam on the bottom of your heels so there would be no sound while you walked. One time they came over and said “Ok, who’s having the problem with their shoes?” And it had just been a little bit of sand two of us had walked over. Another time, they asked people to quit shaking your glass that had fake, plastic ice cubes in them. It’s crazy what the mics pick up.
- The characters have stand ins most of the time. The main characters come in last minute and leave just as soon as they wrap the scene.
- It KILLED me that we couldn’t take pictures on set. So many beautiful people and gorgeous lighting. It was all I could do not to whip out my camera.
I do have a few pictures to share so you’re not completely without a visual.
For those not familiar that is the building where TRIC is.
This is a picture that was taken by Mark yesterday. I was sitting on the other side of the bar directly behind the guy with the tape measure. You can’t see me at all but at least you get an idea of what the room looked like.
Also, here are some pics of me so you know what to look for and you know what outfit they picked. I have to give props to Scott for buying this shirt all by himself last year for my birthday. In the pic on the right, I’m in the holding room in TRIC.
This is a pic inside the tent. Not great but you can kind of get a feel for it. The buffet is right in the middle there.
Ok, this is the only pic of the cast I got. We were walking back from lunch I believe. That is Haley in the purple hat!
So that’s it, except for the juicy spoilers, of course. I have no idea when the episode will air. At minimum it is 7 weeks away and depending on breaks, it may be in January.
In the meantime, go watch a few eps of OTH and really pay attention to the extras! It’s amazing to rewatch and see all that goes in to just one scene!

FridayNightLightsFan.com. Yeah, I did.
Written by Amy on September 11th, 2009 at 1:25 pm
Did I even go a week after letting Melrose Place Blog go before I created another site?
I can’t help it. Friday Night Lights has swept me off my feet and I have every intention of promoting the heck out of it. I would go on and on about how good it is but I think my post the other day pretty much spelled it out.
Kaitlin, who got me into this whole thing, is working super hard with me to get everything up to speed.
So first of all, watch the show if you aren’t!
Get the DVDs (yes that’s an affiliate link):
Friday Night Lights – The First Season
Friday Night Lights: The Second Season
Friday Night Lights: The Third Season
Or check out
surfthechannel.com (although they don’t have every episode)
And…go visit the new fan site and follow us on Twitter!

Friday Night Lights
Written by Amy on September 8th, 2009 at 9:28 amThis is long. If you don’t want to read it, the whole post can be summarized in one sentence: Watch Friday Night Lights.
It is also not spoilerish so feel free to read it if you haven’t watched the show.
Anyone that has been listening to me at all on Twitter or in real life knows that I have been caught up in a new TV series Friday Night Lights. Like I needed one right? But Kaitlin insisted in my Fall TV post that I should watch it. I had heard before that it was good so I found myself at surfthechannel.com to check it out. Well. I think I can safely say halfway through the first episode I was hooked. By the 3rd episode I was ready to start a fan site. And in my world, that’s the highest compliment I can give.
I spent hours upon hours this weekend during the late evenings and early mornings (thanks 2 two sleepovers for the girls) catching up on Season 1. At episode 8 Friday night, surfthechannel.com failed to deliver an episode. Saturday morning, my first stop was Blockbuster and then Wal-Mart to find it on DVD. At that point I knew I wanted them anyway. Saturday evening, I handed them off to my parents and sister insisting they had to watch it. And they loved it too. At 2:30am on Sunday night/Monday morning I finished Season 1.
It’s so. good.
Like, really, really good.
As in, you should RUN to Wal-Mart and buy it for $14.99.
So what’s to love?
Every. single. character.
I’ll give this from a Season 1 only perspective because I’ve watched some of Season 2 and I realize things start to change…
I always start with Riggins. I love Riggins. I love that he’s the bad boy. Tall, greasy hair and screws up a lot that you want to save. I love that he is vulnerable because his parents flaked out and he has a barely supportive brother. I love that on one hand he’s a womanizer and then the other he says “Lyla…Lyla” in that Texan accent. Yep, he’s the ultimate bad boy in love with the good girl. The couple that should be together but isn’t. Do I love that he does all the bad stuff? No, of course not. But I love watching how he deals with it. I love trying to figure out what drives him. What motivates him. Who he really loves and doesn’t. Ah, I love Riggs.
Next is Matt. Matty. That’s what I call him. Cause yes, I do talk to him through the screen. Matty, that’s so sweet. Poor Matty. I love how he stutters. I love how he’s a gentleman. I love how he has no clue what to do with Julie. I love how he’s fiercely loyal to his team. I love him and Landry. They crack me up. Yep, he’s the boy you want to take home to your Mom. He’s the one you want next to you at your wedding.
And Riggins is the one you want at the honeymoon.
Just sayin’.
Coach Taylor and his wife. Can you really separate them? I love them together. I love how they love each other. I love that they make out in the kitchen. I love that she’s always right and he knows it. I love that they parent Julie together. I love the looks they give each other. I love how they care about the students on the team and at the school. I love how Coach Taylor goes out on a limb for them. I love that he goes against the rules when it makes sense.
Now Jason. I’m not a huge fan of his. I like him, yes, but I’m not as invested in him. I do love that he called out Riggins and Lyla. I love his determination although at times it can be a bit much. I just want to say “calm down” to him sometimes.
Lyla. The good girl. One that made a huge mistake. Of course I love her with Riggins. I love how she tells him how crappy he’s being. I love that she supports Jason. Even though she screwed up, she was at that hospital A LOT. I love that she tries to hold her family together. I’m not her biggest fan but there are definitely things I can relate to in her.
Smash is hilarious. I love that towards the end of the season we got to see the boy behind all the smack-talk. His character has really evolved and I like that.
Tyra. I love that she tells it like it is. She doesn’t take crap from anyone. And yet, under all that she’s as vulnerable as any of them.
Landry. I love him. I love him with Matt. Did I mention they crack me up?
Matt’s Grandma, Smash’s Mom even Buddy Garrity. I can’t help but be glad they’re on the screen too.
It’s amazing that one show could make you care about so many of the characters. Of all the shows I watch, there are NONE that have a cast of characters that I care about and feel invested in like this one.
I love the writing. It’s smart, it’s funny. The timing is impeccable. The storylines are dramatic yet handled a real way. Or maybe the storylines are just realistic and they are able to dramatize them. I don’t know. But there has yet to be a time where I say, you know, I really don’t like this storyline. Because somehow it’s not a storyline. Somehow it’s just their life. And doesn’t life have enough drama? I of course love the Christian undertone of the show. That many of the families are Christians. That they aren’t afraid to have scenes in a church. That they’re not afraid to talk about God.
So yeah, I love this show.
And that was my brain dump after watching 880 minutes of one show in a matter of days.
And I can’t recommend enough that you do the same.

A Blog Bites the Dust
Written by Amy on September 3rd, 2009 at 10:24 amBeware, I’m on a bit of a soap box in this one.
So I did it. I sold my Melr*se Pl*ce blog (it’s not a bad word, just don’t want search engines picking it up). I sold it to an online friend and I know it will be well taken care of. But yesterday when I took it out of my stat site, it honestly made me choke up a bit. It was like giving a well cared for treasure away. I guess I’ve put more effort and energy into it than I thought.
The thing is once the ads came out recently, they were too racy for me. It’s in very poor taste considering it’s on a network geared toward teenage girls. “Tuesdays are the new Hump Day” or “Menage A TUES” are just examples. Have fun explaining that one to your 13 year old. The main character is “try-sexual” because she’ll try anything with anyone and another character is literally a prostitute on the side. The latest ad says “Lauren’s on call and it’s not at the hospital”. Hopefully the ads are going a bit over the edge and the show will handle the subjects more appropriately. But I doubt it.
I’m no saint when it comes to TV watching but I guess I just didn’t feel comfortable being a part of the promotion of that. I do put a lot of effort into my blogs and since it’s not something I feel 100% about, I just can’t justify the time and effort. The thing is I’m giving up a source of blog income as it was finally making a profit after about 6 months and I expect it only to go up, way up, in fact. I still can’t say it didn’t hurt a bit to give it up. But I know deep down I’m doing the right thing for me.
Sooo…I have some time to blog about something else now…watch out!

Fall TV
Written by Amy on August 25th, 2009 at 3:34 pmYou all should know I love my TV. Probably a downfall of mine but I love getting lost in the stories and after a full day of staring at code and answering to Mommy, it’s my way of not having to think about anything and relaxing.
I do have to say I have REALLY enjoyed the break this summer and love that I rarely if ever turn the TV on for myself.
Each season though, I find that there are always new shows I want to check out and invariably I’m sitting in front of a TV for hours. It’s really too much.
Over the last few seasons I have started cutting back. Over time, I threw out Big Brother, Biggest Loser, 24, Desperate Housewives, Survivor, Private Practice, So You Think You Can Dance, even House. Not to mention HGTV altogether. I really could spend all day watching TV if I let myself.
Sometimes I have to throw shows out just because of the time conflict. And yes, I have DVR but I have other shows on other nights to watch. There are some I love enough to DVR and watch later but usually, I like to watch shows live. I KNOW I’m probably in the minority there.
So all that to say, this is what my schedule is looking like in about two weeks:
Monday
- One Tree Hill 8-9
- Greek 9-10
- Gossip Girl 9-10
You can see I already have a conflict on Day 1. But I do love both Greek and Gossip Girl. Greek is all thanks to Heather who wouldn’t keep raving about it. Because of my OTH blog and all the posting I do on Monday nights, I’ll probably be DVRing both of those and watching both later. Also worthy of note is Greek is only 10 episodes.
Tuesday
- Melrose Place 9-10
If you didn’t already know, I started a blog for MP. I’m not very happy with what I’ve seen with it so far (racy storylines and advertising) and am thinking about selling it. Any takers? Either way, I’ll probably check it out before I write it off completely.
Wednesday
- Glee 9-10
Glee is very questionable. I almost didn’t include it. But the pilot episode was good enough to make me check it out again. I think.
Thursday
- Vampire Diaries 8-9
- The Office 9-9:30
- Grey’s Anatomy 9-10
I usually watch The Office first so Scott will watch it with me before going to bed and also so I can fast forward through all of Grey’s commercials. I read the Vampire Diaries books so I definitely want to check out the show. Or, I read the books so I could watch the show. Something like that. Either way, I’m going to check it out. It will probably be a DVR thing though because it comes on before the kids go to bed.
Friday
- Dollhouse 10-11
Dollhouse was a solid show last year and Scott will watch it with me. Plus, it’s the only show I watch on the weekends.
Also, others I’d like to check out if I had the time is The Secret Life of the American Teenager. A show I threw out that I wish I had time to watch is Lie To Me. And I do miss House. The others I’ve gotten rid of I like but I’m not missing them too much.
As you can see, I’m looking at 1-3 hours of TV every night. *sigh* I honestly feel tired already.
But are there any other shows you think I HAVE to watch? I don’t mind catching up on several seasons if it’s worth it!

The Bachelorette: After the Finale
Written by Amy on July 27th, 2009 at 9:23 pmNot to be confused with After the Final Rose.
So, as predicted, I’m ok with Ed. But as well spoken as the guy is, I was a little disappointed with his proposal. Even Reid’s comment about what was going on there without him was wrong was more moving. Nevertheless, I think Jillian and Ed or “Jed” as some hardcore fans might say will be quite happy.
I was a tad disappointed with her not picking Reid after him coming back for her. It would have been good drama for her to pick him and he’s such a cutie. He will make someone very happy. As for Kiptyn, after I saw the home visit I was sure it wasn’t going to be him.
As much as I twittered about the show tonight, there’s not too much left to say. Although I have to end with mentioning the funniest 2 seconds of Bachelorette history. The shot of the volcano at the end of Ed and Jillian’s date was probably unnecessary and unprofessional but I was laughing for the entire commercial. And then? The tweet at the end of the show: Cue the volcanoes!
For a season I hadn’t planned to watch, I have to say it was a good one. Congrats, Jed!

The Bachelorette: Thoughts Before the Finale
Written by Amy on July 27th, 2009 at 6:54 pmEven though it’s Ed and Kiptyn in the finale, we all know Reid shows up tonight. We also know that someone has a secret and things go awry. I have no idea what that means. Even RealitySteve doesn’t know what it means this year.
But since I didn’t get to blog last week, here are my thought going into tonight.
She still has great chemistry with Kiptyn and I think she likes him. It just worries me that she worries too much about him and doesn’t seem to be 100% comfortable.
For Ed, she seems 100% herself but I do know there are rumors swirling about a girlfriend back home so he might be the one with the secret. He also seems to be a sweet talker and I just wonder when reality sets in and he’s not all the time convincing her how much he’s thinking about her what will happen.
As for Reid, I really, really like Reid. I was sad to see him go last week. I really think they are great together. I love how she is giddy with him. Their lifestyles seem to mesh. Reid just lacks the ability to commit and communicate, all of which I think can be taken care of with time.
All that said though, a tiny part of me is rooting for Kiptyn so I can say “I called that”. Part of me is rooting for Ed because they seem like they’d make a great couple. And then a larger part is rooting for Reid because he’s the underdog and well, I just think he went too soon.
So, all in all, I think I’ll be A-ok with any of the 3 and trust me, this is the first year I’ve ever not cared very much. Which leads me to think…maybe if I’m not convinced on any of the 3 that she really shouldn’t pick any of them.
Seven minutes to go for me and I can’t wait to see how it goes down.
